It all starts

with an idea

Carbon Copy at Climate Film Festival was a small experiment with a big idea: that scripted stories can move climate out of the crisis lane and into culture.

We invited filmmakers from across the country to pitch original scripted projects that integrate climate themes; not as backdrops, but as drivers of character and plot.

Over one afternoon in New York, writers, producers, activists and funders came together to prove there’s a real market for narrative climate media. Finalists pitched to a panel of judges from the entertainment and impact sectors, with projects ranging from romantic comedies to speculative dramas, all grounded in the belief that culture moves faster than policy.

The response was electric. The room was full, the conversation was alive, and the takeaway was clear: people are ready to fund stories that make climate personal, entertaining, and unforgettable.

Carbon Copy was just the beginning. Documentaries Don’t Work, and our sister nonprofit After the Fact - Impact! is now building the infrastructure to scale this work and disrupt how narrative climate media gets made and financed.

See you next year!
